I’m a huge online shopper and not just for the convenience of it. There are three sites that have helped me to a save an average of 25% on almost all of my online purchases, on top of the discounted prices I can usually find online. Check out how I save on my online purchases.
Here are the websites that help me save on online purchases:
- Ebates.com: Before I make a purchase, I always go through Ebates before going to the retailer’s website. Ebates is a FREE program that allows you to earn cash back on your online purchases, just by going to their site first. All you do is go here to Ebates and sign in/sign up and type your store’s name in the top corner. It will then show you what percentage of cash back you will get on your purchase. For example, if you were to buy something from Walmart.com, by going through Ebates first, you would get 4% cash back on your entire purchase. This cash back adds up. I’ve been using it for a year and a half have already earned $231! Plus, you’ll get a FREE $10 gift card just by signing up through this link and using Ebates on your first purchase of $25 or more! For more details, see my post here.
- Raise.com: OnRaise.com, you can buy gift cards at a discounted price. Most of the cards available are ecards which means you get it sent to your email usually within 24 hours and you can use it for online purchase. Gift cards are marked down by as much as 20% off the value. I always check Raise before making an online purchase. There’s usually a gift card available to the online store I want, so I buy a card for the value of the item I want at the discounted price. Just go here to sign up/sign in and check available cards.
- Retailmenot.com: Retail Me Not is the best site for finding current coupon codes. I always check this site before checking out and can usually find a coupon code to save me money in addition to the savings I already receive through Ebates and Raise. Just go here and type the retailer’s name at the top to find current coupon codes. Download the iphone app here.
Online Savings Example:
So let’s say I find a great deal on a laptop on Sears.com for $300. First, I would go to Retail Me Not to check for any coupon codes. I find a $30 off any $300 purchase coupon code. Next, I go to Raise.com and purchase gift cards valued at $270 (price of laptop minus coupon code discount). I get a 9% discount by buying the ecard Sear’s gift card through Raise, so I only pay $246 for $270 worth of gift cards. Finally, I go Ebates and they are offering 6% cash back on any Sear’s purchase, saving me an additional $16 (6% of $270, the price after the coupon code but before the gift card). I end up paying a total price of $230 after coupon codes, gift card discounts and Ebates cash back!
Laptop sale price: $300
Retail Me Not coupon code savings: $30
Raise gift card savings: $26
Ebates cash back: $16
Final price: $230!
I’ve saved hundreds on products that rarely go on sale, just by buying them online. For example, we bought a Weber grill last year (which we’ve never seen go on sale). We went to the store to check out which one we wanted and then used the 3 sites above before going to Lowes.com to purchase it. By using the above sites, we saved over 20% on our grill. This is why I love online shopping. I can save money on virtually any online purchase by utilizing these three sites.
