The acquisition of Whole Foods Market by Amazon has just been completed. Amazon has not wasted any time in what they have promised, lower prices on natural and organic foods at Whole Foods.
As of today, 8/28, Amazon has already lowered the prices on many products, specifically including Whole Trade bananas, organic avocados, organic large brown eggs, responsibly-farmed salmon and tilapia, organic baby kale and baby lettuce, animal-welfare-rated 85 percent lean ground beef, creamy and crunchy almond butter, organic Gala and Fuji apples, organic rotisserie chicken, 365 Everyday Value organic butter, and much more.
In addition to lower prices, the following exciting changes are also in the works:
- Amazon Prime will become the official customer rewards program, offering additional discounts and benefits (sign up for a Prime membership now here).
- Whole Foods store brands, like 365, will be available on Amazon.com. Great news for those without a local Whole Foods!
- Amazon Lockers will be placed in Whole Foods stores so you can pick up Amazon orders in store or drop off returns.
They are also committing to continuing to offer lower prices on foods at Whole Foods, without compromising on the quality.
Does this news entice you to shop at Whole Foods more frequently? Let us know what price decreases you notice on your next trip! I just hope they don’t change the store coupons Whole Foods offers, which often make for free or cheap products. I’ve never referred to Whole Foods as Whole Paycheck as in my price comparisons, they came out lower in many staples over stores like Trader Joe’s and Kroger. Plus, their store coupons make for deals much cheaper than other groceries or online. I am excited for the price cuts though, as this should make for even better deals when there’s a sale and a coupon to go with the price cut.
