Have you heard? Amazon has announced a pretty big price hike in their yearly Prime membership. Current memberships are $99, but beginning May 11 2018, new memberships will cost $119 a year (June 16th for existing members that renew).
If you choose to do the monthly plan, that remains the same at $12.99 month.
If you’ve been on the fence about a Prime membership, now is the time to get one as you can still pay just $99 now through 5/10. You can sign up here. Prime Day is coming up soon, so you’ll want a membership to participate. I’ve found Prime Day prices to beat Black Friday prices and they mark down pretty much everything on this one day event, which should be in July 2018 (I’ll announce the date as soon as I have the info).
I’m currently a Prime member and am really bummed about this price hike. When I joined Prime it was just $79 years ago, so $119 seems like a lot. I do buy most of my household products, gifts and many groceries through Prime though, so it’s still worth it for me at this point. I take advantage of their Prime only discounts, 20% off diapers and free 2 day shipping all of the time.
What are your thoughts on the price increase? Will you remain a Prime member?
