For those not familiar with the Instant Pot, itās one of the most popular small kitchen appliances. Itās basically an electric pressure cooker. So, unlike a stovetop pressure cooker, the Instant Pot locks, seals and releases steam if thereās too much pressure, so thereās virtually no concern of explosions as there have been with traditional pressure cookers.
The Instant Pot cooks like a slow cooker, but in a fraction of the time. For example, I make roasts in an hour that are as tender as if Iād slow cooked it all day. Whole chickens can be cooked in 25 minutes, chicken breasts in 15 minutes, bone broth in 2 hours (as opposed to 24 hours stove top). One of my favorite things about the Instant Pot is I can cook rock hard, frozen meat (because we all forget to defrost meat from time to time or like, all the time!) quickly without defrosting it. I cook frozen chicken breasts in 25 minutes and they come out extremely tender and juicy, youād never know it was cooked from frozen.
The Instant Pot also eliminates the need for multiple pans, pots and dishes. You can saute the meat in the Instant Pot prior to cooking.
Hereās what reader Nikki says about her new Instant Pot:
āI love the Instant Pot!Ā It has changed the way we eat- real food so much more accessible and convenient that we never find ourselves running out and getting carry out in a pinch. Iāve made whole meals of course but also yogurt, artichokes, beets, hard boiled eggs, soups- the list goes on and on. A bit intimidating a first but super easy once you get the hang of it. I am buying another as soon as I see a deal!ā
