A lot of you have been asking about the Instant Pot and what we can expect this Amazon Prime Day coming up on July 11 2017. I’ve put together a list of the different Instant Pot options as well as what we saw for price last year on Amazon.
For those not familiar with the Instant Pot, it’s one of the most popular small kitchen appliances. It’s basically an electric pressure cooker. So, unlike a stovetop pressure cooker, the Instant Pot locks, seals and releases steam if there’s too much pressure, so there’s virtually no concern of explosions as there have been with traditional pressure cookers.
The Instant Pot cooks like a slow cooker, but in a fraction of the time. For example, I make roasts in an hour that are as tender as if I’d slow cooked it all day. Whole chickens can be cooked in 25 minutes, chicken breasts in 15 minutes, bone broth in 2 hours (as opposed to 24 hours stove top). One of my favorite things about the Instant Pot is I can cook rock hard, frozen meat (because we all forget to defrost meat from time to time!) quickly without defrosting it. I cook frozen chicken breasts in 25 minutes and they come out extremely tender and juicy, you’d never know it was cooked from frozen.
The Instant Pot also eliminates the need for multiple pans, pots and dishes. You can saute the meat in the Instant Pot prior to cooking.

There are two options for the Instant Pot, the 6-in-1 and the 7-in-1. The 6-in-1 acts as a pressure cooker, sauté/browning, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer & warmer. The 7-in-1 offers all of these and also has a yogurt making function (you can make dairy or dairy-free yogurt, like coconut milk yogurt). The 6-in-1 comes in the sizes 5 qt. and 6 qt. The 7-in-1 comes in the sizes 5, 6 and 8 qt. I’ve found that the 6 qt. 7-in-1 is the perfect size for most dishes. I can make large batches of soups, rice and broth as well as 3 lb. roasts, larger whole chickens and other meats.

Last year (2016), Amazon Prime Day offered lower prices on the Instant Pot than it did on Black Friday 2015. On Black Friday 2016, we saw even lower prices on the Instant Pot than on the previous Prime Day, so if it follows the trend, we could see prices at or lower than we did on Black Friday 2016 this coming Tuesday.
We also have a new model, the Instant Pot 9-in-1 that may be offered at a lower price on Prime Day.
Prime Day actually starts at 9pm EST on July 10th and I expect the prices of the Instant Pot to drop first thing, so bookmark this page for updates. This will be a popular item, so if you’re interested, buy it quickly.
