I’ve been waiting and waiting for Meijer to begin carrying organic chicken, and I finally found it at my store! Their prices are pretty high, but it’s worth keeping an eye out for sales and coupons. For example, I had a $5 off meat coupon that got me a pretty cheap package of organic chicken! Hopefully over time, these prices will come down.
They also started carrying Nature Raised Farms natural chicken that is raised without antibiotics, in a cage-free environment and fed a vegetarian diet.
Here are the prices I found on natural and organic chicken at Meijer:
Smart Chicken organic chicken breasts $9.49 lb.
Nature Raised Farms antibiotic-free, cage-free chicken breasts $$5.29 lb.
Nature Raised Farms antibiotic-free, cage-free chicken thighs $3.29 lb.
Nature Raised Farms antibiotic-free, cage-free whole chicken $1.29 lb.
I still haven’t found organic beef at Meijer. Maybe that will be next!

I checked out the website for nature raised brand and it says that their chicken is fed corn and soybeans which is definitely gmo. I would not recommend eating these chickens or any animal product produced by this company.
