We live in Florida, so we get A LOT of sun exposure. While some exposure is great for Vitamin D levels, too much can cause skin damage. I especially want to product my kiddos faces, so when we moved here almost 5 years ago, I wanted to find a quality sun hat for them and not just rely on natural sunscreen alone.
I researched different hats and ended up buying them each a Sunday Afternoon brand kids bucket hat on Amazon and it’s been one of the best purchases I’ve made. We’re in the ocean a lot, so I love that there’s an adjustable chin strap (which will unsnap in emergencies), protecting it from blowing off in the wind or waves. The rim is awesome, it stays up even when wet and doesn’t get in their faces. After almost 5 years, these haven’t even faded in the Florida sun (while everything else we own has!). It’s a wider rim so it offers extra production for the neck and shoulders. My son easily gets a headache in hats, but this one has been super comfy for him.
I highly recommend Sunday Afternoon hats as they are high quality and hold up for years. My 5 year old daughter wears a size M and my 8 year old son a size L. They also offer size S. There are a bunch of cute designs to choose from here on Amazon.
