We all know how important sleep is for a healthy lifestyle, and one of the most important ways to foster getting quality sleep is in a non-toxic sleep environment. Finding a high-quality mattress should not only be based on comfort but also on the materials used. We’ve always made it a priority to provide mattresses for our children (and ourselves) that are free of harmful chemicals and made from natural materials.Â
Nolah Mattress just released a new latex-based mattress that I got the privilege of trying. The Nolah Natural 11″ mattress is made from 5 layers, the first layer is made from wool, which is a natural fire barrier. This is so important and conventional mattress often are made with chemical flame retardants, while Nolah relies on wool instead. There are 2 layers of Talalay latex, zoned support coils for extra comfort and a recycled plant fiber pad. The cover is made with 100% organic cotton.
I received the twin size Nolah Natural mattress. I love that it came from FedEx in an easy to open and install box. No need to mess with scheduling a delivery time and having to be home. We just opened the box, laid the rolled mattress on the bed frame and took off the plastic wrap. Once the wrap was off, it unrolled itself onto the frame and expanded within seconds. It was ready to sleep on immediately.
I could tell the difference right away that this was a natural mattress. Conventional mattresses have a chemical smell and need to be off gassed. This had no smell and did not need to off gas since there are no chemicals used, as verified by third party certifications from GOTS, Oeko Tex, Rainforest Alliance, eco-INSTITUT and Cradle to Cradle.
The Nolah Natural mattress is so much more comfortable than other latex mattresses. The wool barrier and organic cover add a luxurious layer of comfort, it felt like a high quality hotel mattress. It’s also nice and thick at 11″, aiding in support. The latex layers are hole punctured keeping the mattress cool and breathable.
The Nolah Natural mattress comes in 6 different sizes, Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and CA King. They also have a Nolah Nurture organic 10″ mattress for kids that’s two-sided in sizes Twin, Twin XL and Full. You can check out the Nolah Natural collection here.
I received a twin mattress in exchange for this review. however, all opinions are my own.Â
