Thanks! I hope my Aldi is well stock on the products.
I’ve been hearing good reports so I hope so.
I just bought some of the “Organic” Wildflower Honey. It’s the thinnest honey I’ve ever seen in my life and it’s clear and it tastes like it’s been diluted with something like rice sugar. Finally, it’s far below a reasonable price for organic honey.
I’ve tried to find whether ecocert ico is a credible certifier, but I can’t find any place on the web that wants to evaluate those who testify to the legitimacy of honeys when the study I heard about says as much as 70% of honey sold in the US is bogus–mixed, diluted, dishonest.
So, where are the credible businesses that will shoot straight with the public?
The organic honey wildflower honey is made in Brazil… Probably the best place to source honey because they have great Bee’s So many studies done on the subject of the that Bee. google it !!! So many honey made from other sources may be thicker because you can add high fructose corn syrup to honey. My dad was a bee keeper.
This is one of several sites not affiliated with ecocert that reported about them.http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20110921006130/en/ECOCERT-Group-Acquires-Organic-Certifier-Indiana-Certified#.U3yQP6PD8b0
They seem to be a legit company. If you a questioning the honey, are you comparing it to a local organic brand or regular supermarket honey? Depending on the species or the flowers the bees used to make it, I’ve seen honey that can be thin, and I even toured the plant where they made it locally. So don’t discount it, yet.
I’m with you! Just opened a plastic container of Simply Nature Organic Wildflower Honey from Aldi’s and was blown away when I broke the seal by a chemically smell- I tasted it and had to spit it out. FOUL. This tastes nothing like legit honey.
I love ALDI. They started out the same way in Germany: as a low-budget, almost “dodgy” looking store where posh people wouldn’t ever set a foot in. Then, they won a lot of 1st prizes in consumer tests, so finally people got curious. The next step was to introduce fruit and vegetables. After that, organic food. Nowadays everyone shops there and they’re practically a guarantee for good quality. Thumbs up and I hope they will have even more all-natural and organic stuff when we move back to the U.S. next year!
