Years ago, when I was first on my own, pre-marraige and kids, I stuck to such a strict grocery budget that I remember taking a calculator to the grocery store with me and adding up each item as I went along to make sure I stayed within my budget. Fast forward a few years and 2 kids later, and ain’t nobody got time for that!
Now, I just try to survive as I shop with my little ones and hope I can at least grab 90% of what’s on my list. Enter in my new favorite way to shop…Walmart’s Grocery Pick up! I’ve heard about it for awhile, but I didn’t think it would be easy and my experiences in Walmart stores are never easy. But a few friends of mine convinced me to try it and I’m hooked!
What would have taken me an hour in store to shop for plus waiting in one of 2 lines that was open (or self checkout where nothing rings up properly) for another 15 minutes, took me minutes online. I went to Walmart’s online grocery pickup section, searched for the groceries I normally buy (like organic grass-fed beef, organic produce, organic canned products, non-dairy Silk and So Delicious products, organic frozen produce, and more), added them to my cart and checked out online. I chose my pickup time and headed to the store. I was still doubtful and anticipated a long wait. I checked in on the app and I timed it. They came out within 2 minutes and everything was loaded to go within 6 minutes of when I arrived. 6 minutes vs. over an hour of in store shopping!
They are committed to picking the best fresh produce for you and if you have an item on your list that’s out of stock, it able, they’ll upgrade you to a better product for the same price! For example, I had 100% whole wheat store brand buns on my list and they were out so they gave me the name brand for the same price as the store brand.
I’m on my second week of shopping Walmart’s grocery pickup and throughout the week I’ve been adding items to my list on their site. No more paper and pen grocery list! It’s also already proving to be a big budget saver as I can compare prices online (I don’t have much time to do that with 2 kids in tow in store). I can also set a budget and stick to it, by deleting unnecessary items from my cart when I reach my limit.
I was able to score $10 off my first order and so can you! Just use this link and you’ll receive an exclusive $10 off $50 coupon code to use at checkout. And pickup is always free! Word is some stores are accepting coupons once you arrive, my store is said to begin accepting coupons in January, so check with your store to see if they are. Either way, Walmart has some of the lowest prices seen (without a membership fee like Costco) on organic products.
Let me know your experience with Walmart grocery pickup!
